Application dates for various entrance exam extendedThe Application schedule of the various entrance exams has been revised by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It has been done to facilitate the parents and students who are facing difficulties in submitting applications due to COVID-19 crisis. The application dates for NCHM JEE, IGNOU entrance test, ICAR entrance test, JNUEE, and AIAPGET 2020 have been extended by the National Testing Agency. The last date to apply for IGNOU Admission Test 2020 for PhD, OPENMAT (MBA), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) entrance test 2020, JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) 2020 and National Council for Hotel Management (NCHM) JEE 2020 has been extended to May 15, 2020. The application date for the AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2020 has been pushed to May 6. The examination agency has also requested parents to help students utilize this time for studying and close the learning gaps. Bengal board yet to decide secondary exams result dateThe result declaration date for the Bengal board class 10th exams will be decided after the lockdown is lifted, said West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE). Mr. Chatterjee said that that sorting and evaluation process for the exam answer sheets is being done at rapid speed and once the evaluation is complete, the rest of the process will not take much time. The remaining papers of the Higher Secondary Exams will be held after June 10 and conducting class 12 pending exam is WBCHSE’s priority, he added. The odd semester exams for the new academic session can be held between January 1 and January 25 and for the even semester, exams should commence from January 27. Summer vacation for 2020-21 will be from July 1 to July 31 and the next academic session will commence from August 2, 2021. UGC has also asked the universities to follow six-days week pattern to compensate for the loss of studies. Along with this UGC also asked the universities to develop virtual classrooms and train all teacher in using the technology. Students who are interested in applying can fill the form until June 2020. The last date for the admission is August 14, 2020. The officials believe that resuming normal school activities after ease in lockdown restrictions will take some time and reaching students thorough Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR) is the easiest and best way. "We have approached the Centre and sought three hours of daily broadcast time on both Doordarshan and All India Radio to broadcast classes for students till the time schools reopen. We have sought separate slots for elementary, secondary and senior secondary classes," a senior official of the Directorate of Education (DoE) said. Schools across the country have been closed since March 16 in order to contain the COVID-19 breakout. "We are using the online medium and collaborating with the best organizations in the education domain to conduct online classes for our students. If you grant us the slots, we will have our teachers on board to conduct the classes and air as per our lesson plan," the official said. The Delhi government is conducting the classes through various online platforms. However, according to the statistics only 68 percent of the students have access to the smartphones at home. Doordarshan kendras in Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, and Jammu and Kashmir are broadcasting virtual classes. Dungar College, Bikaner, released a notification saying that exam will be held in the first week of June however, the exact date of the exam and release of admit cards will be notified in due time. The PTET exam is held for 2-year B.Ed. and 4-year BA-B.Sc. B.Ed. course. Candidates who have registered for the exam but want to rectify the errors can do so until May 5, 2020. The result will be announced on June 26 and the counseling will commence from July 1. According to the new schedule, the allotment result will be released in August and classes will commence in September. For the second consecutive year, the exam is held by Dungar College, Bikaner. In 2018 and in 2017 the exam was conducted by the Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University.
